Nha Trang is famously Vietnam’s best beach resort city, and it’s also among the cheapest places in Southeast Asia for the essentials. Diving is quite good and prices are very reasonable, and even the small “beach clubs” on the sand will rent you a comfortable lounge chair for the day and serve you drinks for very little.

There are no real hostels in Nha Trang, and that’s mostly because hotels are so cheap and plentiful in the bottom end of the range. Hotels in the small tourist district are lining the streets at very low prices, and hotels in the older tourist area just to the north are even more reasonable. High-end chain hotels are as expensive as they are most everywhere else, so the city is more of a bargain for those on a tighter budget.
Unlike many other Vietnamese tourist cities, Nha Trang draws quite a number of pure leisure travelers just coming in to dive, sunbathe, and hit the nightclubs and bars. The peak seasons last from January through March, and also July through August.
Outside of those times the city is fairly quite and finding good deals at hotels is even easier.

Nha Trang has an unusually reliable climate for Southeast Asia. The rainy season only lasts around 10 weeks, and it often doesn’t pack much punch. This is Vietnam’s best beach resort city, and fortunately it’s warm and sunny most every day most of the year.
It’s hottest in April, and fairly humid all year round, but the rain only becomes an issue from October through early December. When it does rain it tends to be patchy and usually intense, so unless you are actually out on the beach it’s fairly easy to take shelter and wait it out.
