Though Antalya is mostly known for package holidays at resorts well outside the city center, this is also an excellent cultural destination that has great weather most of the year. This is the largest city along Turkey’s Mediterranean coast, and many smaller cities are similarly affordable and worthwhile.

Especially compared to Istanbul, Antalya is a great bargain. Hotels in the lovely and historic city center can be very cheap and excellent value, with nearly unlimited dining and drinking options within the same area. The cheaper hotels can actually have private rooms for less than dorm beds in hostels, so they are worth researching.
Hotels in Antalya are quite cheap for most of the year, except peak season, which is July and August. May, June, September, and October are still considered “high season” but the crowds are small so finding a good deal is usually easy. From November through April you can find amazing deals, especially at high-end places.

The weather in Antalya is wonderful for most of the year. During the peak of summer, in July and August, it can get blazing hot, but at least it gets almost no rain then. December and January can get a bit cool and rainy, though still quite nice compared to most of Europe. The other 8 months have nearly perfect weather that stretches the whole coast.
