Kas is perhaps the most popular of the small fishing villages along Turkey’s Mediterranean coast that has been discovered by Brits and northern Europeans. With a year-round population of only around 7,000 it feels like a small town, and it’s quite easy to walk from one end to the other in under 15 minutes.

Hotels in Kas are quite cheap by European standards, especially outside of the July and August busy season. Basic rooms start at around US$20 per night, including breakfast and free wi-fi. There are plenty of upscale hotels out on the peninsula and along the Hotel Strip just by the harbor and they are more expensive, though many also offer private beaches as well as swimming pools.
Hotels in Kas have their peak season during all of July and August, with August usually being a bit more crowded even. From April through June and September and October you can get much better deals to go along with the more moderate weather. From November through March many Kas close completely, but it’s still low season at those that stay open.

The food in Kas is competitively priced due to scores of similar outdoor restaurants throughout the city center. It’s a good bargain, though don’t expect anything too exotic. Beer is available everywhere, usually at the same prices, and raki is the local spirit that costs just a bit more.

Kas has an exceedingly agreeable climate, even for a Mediterranean town. Summers are hot, with rarely so much as a single cloud in the sky, and humidity is rarely a problem like it is in many other resort towns. Spring and autumn are even nicer and also very dry, so this is when most adventure sports people prefer to come. December and January can be wet and cool so they are best avoided.
