Argentina has developed a great reputation for reasonably priced wines, and Mendoza is the epicenter of the wine industry here. Even with its relatively dry climate, this small city in the foothills of the Andes has more trees than you’d expect, which can make the climate even more pleasant.

Prices for hostels and hotels in Mendoza tend to be quite reasonable, even by Argentine standards. This might be the best budget stop for international tourists, at least compared to Buenos Aires and Bariloche. Food and drinks can be modestly priced as well, particularly the local Malbec wines that have helped make this place famous.
Summers tend to get a little hot and humid, bringing in less visitors then during the rest of the year. Summer is also when hotel prices are at their lowest. The winter months see a bit of a variation in prices with ski season reigning king with the highest prices.

Mendoza has become a very popular travel destination for those who live in the Northern Hemisphere due to its location in the Southern Hemisphere. Because seasons are opposite, northerners get the chance to escape a cold winter and in turn relax and enjoy summertime.
Due to this, Mendozas hottest months include December and January while its coldest months are June and July. Wintertime however, is not the cold long winter that everyone imagines. In fact, temperatures are relatively comfortable with daily temperatures in the 60s.
Generally when packing, it’s best to bring both thin and thick layers so that you can add and subtract when needed.
